I suspect the closing of Blizzard North did tremendous damage to the Diablo franchise. The time between announcement and release for World of Warcraft was about 3 years and that is an MMO with likely far more content and definitely more races and classes. I'm not saying Diablo III won't come out in 2011, but I suspect it won't be as awesome a game that you would expect from a company like Blizzard having spent 3 years on it. Remember, Diablo III's art director quit soon after the announcement, so you have to wonder what internal politics are roiling the project. The reason I mention this is that I suspect that Blizzard is starving Diablo III of resources and despite claims that StarCraft 2 is not affecting Diablo III, I suspect that isn't even remotely true. Also, since Diablo III was announced in mid-2008, it will likely have been in development for around 3 full years. If Diablo III gets released in 2011 as expected, there will have been a 10 year gap since Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. Forums: Index → Archives → Diablo III - a long wait.
